What is open
The public repository, MeiuxMeiux/Open-Iblis, holds the client. Each part carries its own license:
| Part | License | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Desktop app (apps/shell) | GPL-3.0-or-later | The application you install. Modified versions must stay under the GPL. |
Plugin SDK (packages/plugin-sdk) | Apache-2.0 | Plugins built against it may use any license. |
First-party plugins (packages/plugins) | MIT | Engine, processor, skin, and training packs; each manifest names its license. |
| Brand: the Iblis name, logo, wordmark, installer art | Trademark, all rights reserved | The code is free; the name is not. See the trademark note below. |
Music engines and model weights keep their own upstream licenses. The
repository lists every bundled third-party component and its license in
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md.
What the hosted service provides
These run on Meiux Meiux infrastructure. They are separate programs that the app talks to over HTTPS, and they are not part of the public repository:
- Signed plugin catalog and release feed. Engine packs, plugins, and skins arrive through an Ed25519-signed catalog; the official installer updates itself from our release feed.
- Product keys. Keys and the short-lived signed leases that unlock the community services. Nothing local ever needs one.
- Community Styles. Publishing trained styles, the signed community index, and downloads.
- Diagnostics ingest. Off by default; only when you turn diagnostics on in Settings. See privacy.
- This website and its feedback queue.
Build from source
- Clone https://github.com/MeiuxMeiux/Open-Iblis.
- Install Node 24, pnpm, just, and Python 3.
- Run
just install, thenjust buildandjust test.just --listshows every task;just distbuilds a Windows installer (run it on Windows).
The installer on this site is the official build: it comes from our release pipeline, auto-updates, and uses the official catalog and community services. Windows code signing is not in place yet, so SmartScreen may warn about an unknown publisher on either kind of build. Copies you build yourself are unofficial: they are unsigned, never auto-update, and show "Source build" in the About dialog.
Trademark
"Iblis", the Iblis logo, and the Meiux Meiux name and marks are trademarks of Meiux Meiux LLC. The open-source licenses grant rights in the code, not in the marks. A fork is welcome; it must use its own name, app id, update feed, and icons. Saying it is "based on Iblis" is fine.
Contributing and reporting
Bugs and feature requests go to GitHub issues or, without an account, the feedback form. Security reports follow the security policy, never a public issue.
